STUDIO | TJR DESIGN
Founded in 2009 by Tang Jianren, TJR DESIGN is an internationally avant-garde integrated design studio based in Shenzhen, focusing on urban renewal, rooted in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area with a global vision. Breaking the boundaries of single-discipline design, the studio focuses on dual core sectors of architecture and landscape architecture, centering on urban regeneration with a business scope covering urban design, public space renovation, district revitalization, complex development and ecological restoration, and provides forward-looking, systematic and highly innovative design solutions for stock space renewal and future urban iteration across the Greater Bay Area. Differentiated from standardized and mass-produced industry practices, TJR adheres to an elite, customized and original design methodology, integrating fluid curved spatial aesthetics and deconstructive design thinking to redefine traditional rigid spatial forms and reconstruct urban textures with free, dynamic and sculptural formal languages. Focused on in-depth research into urban renewal, TJR addresses core urban challenges including fragmented public spaces, aging districts and ecological deficiency, and establishes an integrated architectural and landscape system that balances futuristic innovation and local contextual characteristics for the Greater Bay Area with the self-developed theoretical framework Net-Urbanism. As a research-driven pioneer in urban renewal, TJR follows a core philosophy of concept-first, research-led and technology-empowered. Distinct from market-oriented production studios, TJR specializes in cutting-edge conceptual exploration and experimental design innovation with strong capabilities in original concept formulation and future urban scenario deduction. Leveraging solid 3D digital prototyping technology and in-depth research into AI intelligent design systems, the studio integrates parametric computation, algorithmic simulation and digital customized fabrication with ecological sustainability, forming a full-spectrum innovative design system featuring AI-driven spatial reasoning, avant-garde conceptual modeling and digital verification. Breaking conventional design limitations, TJR creates multi-dimensional spatial works that integrate artistic expression, ecological value and future urban vitality, and commits to exploring forward-looking paradigms for Greater Bay Area urban renewal, growing into a distinctive experimental and future-oriented design research force in regional urban regeneration.
FOUNDER | TANG JIANREN
Tang Jianren is the founder and chief designer of TJR DESIGN, and one of the earliest practitioners exploring nonlinear parametric and deconstructive avant-garde spatial design in China. From 2006 to 2009, he worked at the Landscape Architecture Research Center, Zhu Yufan Studio, Tsinghua University, where he accumulated solid academic research and practical experience in frontier urban and landscape design. He founded TJR DESIGN in 2009 and has since dedicated his practice and theoretical research to architecture, landscape architecture and urban design, with a long-term focus on urban renewal research and innovative practice in the Greater Bay Area. His design methodology is highly original and avant-garde, uniquely integrating fluid dynamic aesthetics and deconstructive spatial logic into integrated architectural and landscape creation. Rejecting rigid conventional design formulas, he has developed a minimalist, avant-garde and sculptural design vocabulary with strong spatial tension. He commits to the localized interpretation of global frontier design theories, tackling complex spatial problems in urban renewal, balancing avant-garde artistic expression, regional context inheritance and ecological sustainability, and exploring an innovative modern design system tailored to China’s urban development. Throughout his practice, Tang Jianren adheres to the principles of original research, conceptual innovation and technological empowerment, taking ecological sustainability as the fundamental premise of all architectural and landscape design. He continuously explores nonlinear parametric design, intelligent digital technology and future urban spatial theories. Building on the studio’s mature 3D prototyping foundation, he conducts in-depth research on AI algorithms, intelligent spatial simulation and digital customization, integrating cutting-edge digital technology with avant-garde design concepts to establish TJR’s exclusive theoretical and technological innovation system. He has led hundreds of high-quality avant-garde conceptual projects and urban renewal research programs, delivering forward-looking spatial aesthetics and innovative regeneration strategies to empower the continuous upgrading of Greater Bay Area cities.
